Modifying a gun can be dangerous. Use factory service or a qualified gunsmith. You are not sure of which things you don't know.
. . . Regretting a gun … A gun in a home is far more likely to be used to harm a friend, yourself, or a relative ( in defense, accident, crime, suicide) rather than against an intruder. .Maybe "pellet load" is a good idea as a first round, and if intoxication in the home happens, keep guns locked up. If in doubt, or impaired, don't even hold a gun.
Daily carry is a hassle if over a pound loaded. I carry a corrected KelTec 32 w/S&B fmj. (It needed much work & testing before use.) Leo: look at Rohrbaugh 9 or Kahr PM9 fmj for bug use. 3" barrels w/fmj could pierce a windshield in a direct shot.
Revolvers are dependable & you can avoid some testing and tweaking common in pistols. 22mag fmj is effective; but DA is tough. Use real fmj to reduce particles from front of cylinder. One-hand hammer cocking for SA can be difficult. If trying +p or reloads, start with a kevlar glove.
